A Mechanical Locker Lock is a medium level of security lock meaning they are a slightly better choice compared to Locker Cam (Key) Locks and Locker Latch Locks for Padlocks.
They can be used on cupboards, cabinets, and other applications that require a locking mechanism to secure the door shut and keep the belongings inside safe. Mechanical Locker Locks usually come in 3 or 4 dial options depending on whether you want that little bit of extra security or not. 4-dial Mechanical Locker Locks are slightly more advanced than 3-dial Mechanical Locker Locks as they have another digit to add to the mix, making it harder for people to guess the code of someone’s locker lock if they were trying to break in and steal the contents.
The great thing about Mechanical Locker Locks is that when ordering any of the lockers on our website, they are normally a low-cost option to have mechanical locker locks instead of locker cam (key) locks or locker latch locks for padlocks.
Mechanical Locker Locks are a great lock to choose if you are sticking to a particular colour scheme in your locker room as they are available in a few different colour finishes meaning there is more choice of how they will look compared to other locking options that are cheaper. These locks also do not require keys or padlocks to be locked – just the user remembering the code they have used to lock and unlock it.
Mechanical Locker Locks work differently depending on the mode you have them in. There are 2 different types: Private Mode and Public Mode. Private Mode Mechanical Locker Locks are usually used in private areas or workplaces as the user of the locker will not change often and will use the same code every single day. Public Mode Mechanical Locker Locks are better for public spaces such as gyms, leisure centres and other changing room areas which will have lockers being used by several different people during the day. With public mode locks, the codes reset after someone has unlocked the locker so that it is ready for the next person to come along and choose their code to store their belongings inside. This is different to private mode locks as they will remain the same and the code will not reset each time the lock is used as it is being used by the same person each time who will want to keep the same code and remember it.
Now, finding the best Mechanical Locker Lock for your lockers or required application will depend on a few different factors. The main question you will need to answer (if you are making the lockers/application yourself) is the type of material they will be being used on and the thickness of it – this will then help us to recommend or for you to find one compatible with that material.
If you already have some lockers which have Mechanical Combination Locks on and you just need a replacement due to damage, we can provide you with the right lock if you are able to let us know the brand of the locker or the lock so that we can identify the correct one and get you like for like on order.
Mechanical Locker Locks are fitted simply by inserting the cam bar end of the lock through the hole in the door and securing it into place using a brass fixing nut to ensure it doesn’t move around in the hole and prevent people from just taking the lock out to gain access inside.
