What is a Locker Latch Lock?

06.01.23 - Locker Locks

A Locker Latch Lock is one of the easiest, cheapest, and most simple to operate locker locks. They can also be used on cupboards, cabinets, and other applications which requires a locking mechanism to open and close the door and keep the belongings safe inside.

Locker Latch Locks are a low level security lock when just used as a handle however they can be used alongside a Padlock which makes them suitable for higher level security requirements.

The best thing about Locker Latch Locks is that they are a no cost option when personalising your lockers at the checkout on our website which makes them a popular choice by several of our customers, especially within schools due to their ease of operation by the students (not having to worry about codes and keys). If you ever need to order any additional Locker Latch Locks as backup or as a result of some damage and needing to replace them, they will then become a chargeable product.

How do Locker Latch Locks work?

Locker Latch Locks work by simply turning the handle which rotates the cam bar either 90 degrees clockwise to unlock and open the door or, 90 degrees anti-clockwise to lock and secure the door shut. Due to the structure of the lock, it can easily be opened and closed without a key or code which means anyone can go up to it and access the belongings inside.

What Locker Latch Locks are the best?

When it comes to finding the Locker Latch Lock you require, it will depend on whether you are making the lockers/application yourself or whether you are needing to change some existing locks on your current lockers that were manufactured by someone else. There are a number of different factors which will help us to find out which latch lock will be best for you and your storage system.

With Locker Latch Locks being the type of lock they are, it means that there are no keys or codes used to operate it meaning they will not be on certain series’ depending on who and when they were made. This makes it a bit easier when getting you some replacements sorted as all we require is a photo of what they look like and the locker(s) they are on and we can give you the exact lock you would need to order on our website.

On the other hand, if you are making these lockers or the storage system yourself, we may need to ask you a few questions such as the material they are made from and the thickness of this material to ensure they will fit and work correctly.

If you are wanting to use the Locker Latch Locks alongside a Padlock and you already have the padlocks, you will need to double check that the Locker Latch Lock we have recommended you is suitable for this Padlock otherwise they will not fit or work how they should which may affect the level of security they serve.

How are Locker Latch Locks fitted?

Locker Latch Locks are fitted by either a brass fixing nut or a horseshoe clip and this will depend on the brand of the Locker Latch Lock you need. Locker Latch Locks are easily slotted through the hole in the door and then are secured by the nut or clip so they do not move around, turn or fall out of the door. They are one of two locks which are easy to fit and do not take more than 5 minutes to change if you know how they are fitted in the first place.
